Duplex! - Ablum by Duplex!
Duplex is great record for associative critic-types: a sane Daniel Johnston! The Pixies starring in the Partridge Family! a self-aware Shonen Knife! Jandek with hope! Actually, it is a quirky, bouncy bit of childlike songs featuring real children, all lead by Canadian underground figure Veda Hille. Jagged, ska-like rhythms, toy piano and casio intros, tamborine and maraca for added effect: this will appeal to both kids and adults with its silly humor and sly intelligence. Standout tracks range from "The Salad Song" and "Freaky Rhesus", to "Lament of the House Rabbit" and "Pooing and Peeing." With band members ranging in age from 3 to 35, they cover a demographic Barney would drool over. I dare you to try and get this record out of your head.
