On this highly original, solid pop record, the Cloud Room wear their influences proudly, but refresh each one with their own ambition. "Hey Hey, Now Now" and "Waterfall" shimmer with New Order-esque drive, along with a little Woodentops type swagger. There is the ska-ish "Blackout!" On other songs, Singer J delivers "Devoured in Peace " and "We Sleep in the Ocean" with a Richard Ashcroft by way of the Beatles snarl. The confidence in this band is sure high for them to quote some heavies and still hold their own. Both fun and intelligent, The Cloud Room is a band to watch, one that sends you to the store to buy their records, and to your record collections to relive some great moments.
