Deep Dish - George Is On
You may have noticed that I don't often review dance music. It's not that I don't like, it's that I'm scared of it. It's one of those massive genres that I haven't dived into so I basically I just skim the surface anytime I approach it. I think this is due to the overwhelming nature of all the different sub-genres. House, microhouse, trance, etc. They are hard for me to tell apart. Regardless, I do like to listen to dance music from time to time and one of the most talked about DJ duos is Deep Dish. The latest from the Washington, DC based duo is a double album called George Is On and it is relatively easy for a rock fan to get into. That could be due to the familiarity of a few of the rock samples like Stevie Nicks' "Dreams". There are quite a few tracks that do have vocals for those that get scared of that fact. Hell, the track entitled "Sacramento" is one of the most rocking tracks on here and it should appeal to fans of Gorillaz. Two of Deep Dish's big singles are here, "Say Hello" and "Flashdance". "Flashing For Money" is quite entertaining throwing in a "Money For Nothing" sample in there.
The second disc is basically just two versions of "Flashdance" as well as four versions of "Say Hello" complete with videos for both. This set makes for good easy listening beats to get some work done.
