Christiansen is a 4-piece punk/rock band from Louisville, Kentucky and their career seems to be blossoming. After releasing Emphasizing Function over Design on the Eulogy label, they made their move to the larger Revelation Records for this mini-album. The quartet has solidified with Brandon Bondehagen (guitar/vocals), Robby Scott (guitars), Brad Magers (bass), and Terry Campbell (drums) and is the strongest the band has been since its inception. Their music can’t really fit easily into a punk category. They fuse the likes of Jawbreaker and At The Drive-In to fuse a jerky but intense style of hard rock. Forensic Brothers and Sisters is a very forward-looking album that is very intense with thoughtful lyrics and impressive guitar licks thrown in. They have a sense of humor too as shown by the opener track title “Jhazz Never Spelled So Good. Jazz is something that the guys in Christiansen obviously cherish as well with the ease of time shifts that one would find in jazz music. You can hear much DC area influence as well. I look forward to Christiansen’s full-length debut on Revelation.
