Portland, Oregon country-punk owing a lot to both delta blues and the odd timing of retro punk bands like Immortal Lee County Killers and Nashville Pussy, though with more of a nod to Honky Tonk than those groups. While there are plenty of solid originals ("N.E. Portland 3am" "Momma told Papa", "Jackson Parole blues") covers not only dominate, but the band sounds more confident in hammering them home. "Poor Black Mattie" and "Coal Black Mattie": by Rainey Burnette lead off and end the set, respectively; "Can't be Satisfied" by Muddy Waters; and a great version of Mississippi Fred McDowell's "You Done Told Everybody" to keep the set together in the middle. More originality here would help, but there hearts are in the right place, down South where the good stews are made, and this band will only get better.
