The Love Drunks play sleazy, and greasy, their sound filtered through a grossly skanky sheet of rockabilly and Detroit proto-punk. Much has been made of the upright bass, but this is no ironic effect. The Love Drunks rock serious and mean. Titles tell the story: "Riot in a Haymarket Square", "Revenge" "Lindbergh Baby" "Livin' (Dirty Bits)". They probably will be lumped in with the garage revival, but that would be wrong. These are mutant, Southern Stooges who crank out their own brand of destruction. I'm mixing metaphors, but so do they, with awesome results.
