Carrying on in classic "queercore" fashion, The Butchies show the guys who's boss with their third album, cleverly entitled 3. The album kicks off with a huge punk pop blast entitled "Anything Anthology" that has to be one of the best tracks I have heard so far this year. The group then lifts their foot off of the gas pedal a bit for the next track "Forget Your Calculus". The production on 3 is outstanding. You can hear every little guitar string squeak as well as all the feedback. The guitars rage at you when the girls make them. The Butchies songwriting has improved as well. You know the band must be talented when Indigo Girl Amy Ray has asked them to back her up on her new solo album.
