I was always intimidated by Turbo Negro, so I never actually listened to them. With the makeup and the costumes I was envisioning something much, much heavier. I was thinking Swedish death metal (probably due to their home country of Norway) but upon first listen of Party Animals it was clear that I was completely mistaken. They take their influence from the likes of Alice Cooper and MC5 rather than the darker side. Sure, the music here is heavy but it wouldn't sound out of place on rock radio of today. In fact it would be quite refreshing. It almost seems as if the band dives so hard into the glam metal that they are making a self-parody of themselves. I could care less though because I had such a blast listening to the party tunes of Party Animals. If the Hives can make it, so can Turbonegro. Damn, I haven't played air guitar so much since 1984.
