Only 2 years after its release in the UK does Aereogramme see a North American release of Seclusion, their follow-up to the critically acclaimed Sleep and Release. Why would this be? Well, they were let go from their Matador deal and were free to do what they wanted. They signed to a new UK indie called Undergroove and they obviously thought that Europe was the main focus. Anyway, we are finally graced with yet another brilliant and diverse album from this Scottish rock band.
Aereogramme start off Seclusion with the absolute soaring feel of "Inkwell". It is a glorious return to form. There are times on Seclusion where they approach a metal sound, like on "The Unravelling". The band even pull off a clever cover of The Flaming Lips "Lightning Strikes The Postman". But my absolute favorite on Seclusion is the understated although dramatic "I Don't Need Your Love". This is a fantastic album and I'm happy to have finally heard it.
