The year is young and already I think I have found one of my favorite albums. Lanterna is primarily the project of guitarist Henry Frayne. It's very ambient in nature and hedging on the "New Age" territory. There is a lot in common with Frayne's work and that of Bill Frisell and Daniel Lanois. There are so many guitar influences at play that there is no use mentioning. I can't help but feel that there is too much similarity between 'Venture' and a certain Josh Rouse track. It was stated that Henry is attempting at breaking down the barriers between ambient instrumentals and pop music. I think Desert Ocean does this just fine. If you are looking for some music to put on in the background while working or hanging out then track down Desert Ocean.
