You may remember Wheatus as glam pop stars who briefly were something big in 2001 with “Teenage Dirtbag and some flirtation with Capitol. Not quite bubblegum, not quite meaty, these tunes kinda crank along like cool summer tunes to listen to in the car, to be concentrated on whenever the conversation with friends or lovers turns pointless. “BMX Bandits rocks with the odd time changes of the most tired pop-punk, and “I Am What It Is sounds like a bad Sesame sTret parody of They Mnight be Giants, but “In The Melody and “Something Good rock hard like it’s 1973, and “Hometown reaches some real emotional territory. Too Soon Monsoon is a throwaway, but a fun one.
