The Muckrakers singer/writer, Rob Carpenter has a great eye for the mundane, for the little moments when life up and bites you if you are paying attention. What trips up each of these songs just when they seem ready to go for greatness is a pop sense that sounds borrowed third hand from Goo Goo Dolls or Matchbox 20. Digging in a little more with the melody would make such tracks as “Cigarettes and Magazines, “Hold On “Breathe In Breathe Out, and the almost-made-it “Happy Inn more satisfying. That being said, they will be big: first single “Through My Door and “When The Morning Comes sound like TRL classics already. Which is good and sad at the same time. Continued maturity in writing and vision could make them monsters; they are also on the edge of sounding like every lame jam band trying to hit the charts with cookie-cutter melodies. Big times ahead the next time they go to the studio.
