From a Compound Eye is Bob Pollard's first solo album since the demise of Guided By Voices. Now possessing the creative freedom to do something other than "the next GBV album", Pollard has stretched out and given us something we would have all probably expected, a double album of all new material. And as with most Guided By Voices albums you do have to have some time and patience to fully appreciate. With over 70 minutes of music, time is indeed of the essence when you approach Compound Eye. And in all reality, this album isn't a far cry from any GBV material. Robert tends to get loud and a bit experimental on a few songs but again any GBV fan would easily get into what Bob has to offer here.
