Paul Duncan's 2003 release To An Ambient Hollywood was one of those albums that made a great first impression on me. Paul was an artist that I had no expectations with and one that was lucky to make it through the ton of albums that I get on a daily basis. When Be Careful What You Call Home ended up in my mailbox I had to wrack my brain to figure where I had heard the name (actually a quick search on my site was all that was needed). So this nice natural package contained some more very soft spoken folk/pop music that is super pleasing to my ear. Songs seem to be a little more fleshed out than they were on his previous album. This turns out to be one of those albums that sounds homey and familiar although I can't place where that familiarity comes from. Maybe something like Joseph Arthur but I don't that even comes close. I love the way Paul chooses to usher us in with the quiet "In A Way". It ebbs and flows in volume but is a very pleasant listen. The rest of the album is just as dynamic and is quite a treat to the ears. I do like the instrumentals as well.
