Ah, Audition has the latest "new sound" that sounds suspiciously like every other band that made it with this year's signature sound: melodic pop-punk that rips off bands that ripped off other bands that ripped off bands that actually had something to say. This kind of cookie-cutter lameness is what is starting to perpetuate the myth that Green Day are seminal. But then, again, so is McDonald's. You know this record deep in your heart: somber minor chord intros that step into ska-like barre-chords, a staccato chanting of the lyrics, building up to the rockin chorus where all the emotion is set free to roam across the world of your teen bedroom. The Audition will be huge, HUGE, like an Angus Burger straight from the paper bag. Location, location, location.
