I received and album by a band called Magic Numbers and I couldn't help but think that they were a second rate Stars. I'm not the biggest Stars fan in the world but there really isn't anything wrong with the popcraft of this Arts and Crafts band. It really is the vocal sharing of Torquil Campbell and Amy Millan that make albums like Set Yourself On Fire so damn charming. I'm sure there are many people who would love to pan this album but songs such as the irresistible "Reunion" amongst many others, make this the best pop album of the year. There are elements of the past in their sound but the delivery and sexiness of both Campbell and Millan's vocal delivery that hold the listener tight. It also helps that the musicians on the album are equally amazing. If you are thinking about checking out The Magic Numbers, stop, walk over and grab this Stars album. I think your money will be much better spent.
