I have neglected The Long Winters despite my better judgement. When I Pretend To Fall was on my "To Buy" list for a long, long time and I never acted upon it. So Ultimatum is the first true listen I have had of The Long Winters. This EP features two tracks done acoustically by Winters' band leader John Roderick. They are beautiful in this manner showing that John is just as much a folkie as he is an indie rock star and revealing the stark beauty of his songs. I tend to lean towards the studio treated songs here. The production of the 4 studio songs here on Ultimatum are beautiful. They are quite lush and easy-going. Ultimatum is a fine EP and would lend itself nicely to an introduction to The Long Winters.
