RecommendCall Between The Buried and Me Prog Rock with Death Metal aspirations; or call it Asia grasping at straws for street cred. The blending of punk and metal in the last decade has been a good one, providing a deadly mix of crunch with attitude and heart. Between The Buried and Me seem to be trying for that mix on Alaska, but it does not work. The throaty death voice fronting frilly Rush riffs not only seems out of place, but absurd. Their last record, The Silent Circus, earned the band cult status and a loyal following. Pimp My Ride has a loyal following too, but marching in line with them will only lead you over the cliff. Call this The Silent Stupidity.
