Vocalist and songwriter Victoria Bergsman impresses with her lost but strong style. These gentle yet majestic tunes from The Concretes find the band showcasing lyrics that address love lost, love forgotten, love better left alone. In that context, the band's cover of the Stones' "Miss You" fits perfectly. Other gems on this collection of b-sides and rarities include "Sugar" "Oh Baby", and "Sand." The last two tracks, the beautiful "Under Your Leaves" and the silly country of " Seems Fine Shuffle" are the bands' best work to date. The Concretes are a band with its own style and vision, one in which the vocals provide the backbone for fragile longing melody and Layourbattleaxedown provides the proof.
