The emo duo of Jamison Covington and Parker Case have gained a lot of fans in such a short time. Hell, these guys have already secured a deal with Interscope. Is this all due to the Purevolume and Myspace presence that JamisonParker has established? Who knows but what I do know is that I think that a lot of it is hype but these guys do know what they are doing. If you genuinely hate what emo has become then you should stop wasting your time reading this review right here. As for the rest of you JamisonParker should be applauded for mastering the style. Songs like "Paper, Rock, Scissors" epitomize what Emo has turned into. No screaming, not even a resemblance to hardcore or punk in any fashion: no, it's all about melody. Emo has turned into a dumbed down version of rock and roll for teenagers. I'm 34 and I actually enjoy this music. It's harmless and guys like Jamison and Parker have more talent than I could ever hope for. I do feel that they duo might have worked a little more on catchiness and memorable moments. The album is accessible enough and after a handful of listens you will probably be able to sing along. What I would be looking for is some immediate choruses that would ring out after only one listen. Look to the Promise Ring for reference. Emo has melded from a form of hardcore into melodic rock. Once people have learned to accept that then we should be able to accept bands like JamisonParker as half decent. Until that happens then Sleepwalking will probably just fade into obscurity before it has a chance.
