You may remember an electronic outfit in the tail end of the 90s called Super_Collider, or if you were really on the ball you might have caught Jamie Lidell's debut solo album in 2000. If you missed out on both then Multiply will be your introduction into the man who uses samples as his main building block for songs. This is really an album that you can't afford to miss. This is a Stax soul album with all but the label. Lidell proves that he's got an adaptable voice that works with pretty much any vibe. Have a listen to "When I Come Back Around" for one of the most lively performances on the set. Then we get into a really cool groove on "A Little Bit More" that is driven by a cool vocal rhythm. With "What's The Use" really puts his soul coat to work. "Music Will Not Last" sounds like it could be a Redding or Smokey song complete with come pretty fun backing vocals. Multiply is an album that really does get better with age. Upon my fifth listen I was singing along quite prominently.
