This is an OK collection of noise and ambient artists from the kingdom of noise and ambient. Unfortunately, rather than being eclectic, this compilation feels like it was pieced together without much thought. The more noisier acts totally overwhelm the more softer moments, making them seem like light breathers before the real action comes back. Part of this is due to the heavyweights: Merzbow and Ground Zero would overwhelm anyone, and Otomo Yoshihide would overwhelm them. Competing against that maelstrom, only View Masters' majestic whispers and the sludgy guitar effects of Koji Asano manage to hold their own. A collection of just noise or ambient would have been better. Of course, this from the viewpoint of a lover of noise. If you fall more to the ambient side, then there are goodies here if you can stand the assault every other song, but I don't think you'll come away feeling well fed either.
