The Makers have returned with their first album for Kill Rock Stars, Everybody Rise. Strangest Parade was their last output and that was 3 years ago now. What have they been up to? Refining their chops is what. Jack Endino takes on the production duties and pulls in the reins quite a bit. Everything sounds tighter and more refined. This album has some pretty hot garage rock going on with the lead off track, "Matter Of Degrees" forging the way. It is probably one of the finest tracks I have heard from The Makers. The guys follow up with "Good As Gold" a throw-back to the glam days and keeping on in the garage vein. The title track seems to bring us back to the present. "Run With Me Tonight" takes on a jangley guitar sound but a nice break from the driving sound of the rest of the album. They get back into it with "It Takes A Mighty Heart". We get another break with a soulful ballad called "Ordinary Human Love". I found that it took a couple listens to get into Everybody Rise but once your in, you ain't getting out. It's a nice return to form for the Makers with Strangest Parade being a brief detour.
