A truly stunning, incendiary two disc set from a time when free speech meant something, and people were willing to die to exercise that right. The set features clips of speeches by H. Rap Brown, Stokely Carmichael, Malcolm X and Kathleen Cleaver in a mix of rare soul and funk gems. The effect, if you really let it sink in, is one of shame, since it makes you think of how there aren't many willing to take on power and fight the good fight today, musically or otherwise. The music here is fearless: Sons of Slum's "Right On", The O'Jays shocking "Give the People What They Want", Watts Prophets' "Part-E,S", and The Philadelphia International All Stars' "Let's clean up the ghetto" would never be aired if released today. James Brown, Parliament, The Last Poets, Gil-Scott Heron and the Isley Brothers are also represented. The Isley's Fight The Power" alone is worth buying the set.
