Recommend"Things that Matter" features some of the eeriest drumming I've heard in years; kind of like a marching beat funneled through one of Tom Waits' bullhorns. The tension between the noisy mystical and the commonplace is what drives TaughtMe. Where "Just Now" rages with static chaos inside of which you expect to hear a dead relative whispering to you, "Hide & Seek" is achingly beautiful, a tune to play on the night yo propose marriage. The songs here reflect moments that become not only memories, but myths, and together make for one stunning record.
