(DVD) I have been getting a lot of crappy DVD's lately with people expecting reviews but Mixmasters is one that I just couldn't refuse. This combination is deadly! What Moonshine is bringing to the table with The Audiovisual Sessions is an eclectic mix of very cool music created by a few of Britian's top electronic labels like Pork, Full Cycle, Pussyfoot, and Rephlex, and throwing in the visuals that you expect to see at your favorite rave. It so much cooler to be able to play these on demand though. Think of a VJ (Visual Jockey) as a world class DJ mixing up the coolest music from around the globe. Now imagine this being done with Video clips and effects. The video camera turns into the turntable and the Adobe Premiere and After Effects turns into the sampler. In reality this isn't a far stretch. It's really hard to tell if the music is the soundtrack for the visuals or vice-versa. Bottom line is that Mixmasters is a very cool DVD and one that you will return to viewing after viewing. One of the best visuals here is on the track called "Reinforced Mix" by Alpha Omega & Tapehed with a car morphing in on itself over and over. It's really quite a trip.
