RecommendJoanna Newsom is all of twenty two years of age, but upon first hearing her voice on Milk-Eyed Mender I was torn between envisioning an old toothless lady with a needle and thread or an eight year old running though lush hills somewhere on a countryside. Neither of these elaborate images hit the mark quite right, as Joanna Newsom is a gorgeous young lady with an elf- like, majestic energy.
Joanna Newsom's music feels omnipotent connected. The feeling of unity and Joanna's delicate harp-playing and lyrics is what makes her music so remarkable. Every once in a while, you may come across music that is so delicate and overwhelming that you find yourself taking a step back in fear that you may suffocate it otherwise. This album is a reminder, that sometimes, music breathes.
