Pistol Grip is one of those old school punks that don't bring anything new to the table. The thing is, they do punk so well. You can't help but enjoy this kind of music if it is done right. You don't have to be bringing new things to the mix all the time in order to be heralded as relevant. Tear It All Down is the band's third album for BYO and probably their strongest to date. Songs like "Lead The Way" and "Can't Keep Us Silent" kick as much as any old school punk band could have wanted. The band chose to record with Jim Siegel who has had success with Dropkick Murphys. The sound you get on Tear It Down is very well produced. I think the band knows what it likes and isn't afraid to wear their influences on their sleeves. I would keep an eye out for their live show. The energy on CD is intense and I would tend to think that it would translate live quite well. If you come across Tear It All Down in the store check it out. It's loud and obnoxious, although not super original.
