Complicated Shirt proudly separate themselves for the strokes calling them "corporate-carved garage rock," but if I were them I would'nt be so fast to dismiss that because even a fourth rate Strokes cover band could produce a better album than "stringine" the band's sophmore effort. The band feels that they have found a "raw" home recorded garage sound but I would say that the lo-fi recording just made the album sound sloppier than it already did if that is all you can afford its fine but dont brag about it like it added to your sound when clearly it did'nt. The songwriting produced such magical gems such as this one from their song Pitch Doctor Slogan "all you bimbos can do limbo under AIDS-infected needles" now I dont particularly like Ashley Simpson but I would never wish the AIDS virus on her. Musically they are all over the place sometimes they play hard sometimes they go really soft but most of the time it was just annoying sometimes it sounded like they were all playing different songs. Now all that aside the band members do show some flashes of talent here and there, the songwriting AIDS-infected needles aside does show signs of promise with some clever lyrics here and there, and musically they do show some talent also the guitarwork at points when it was not being annoying was actually quite good. So if this band decides to stop being pretentious and actually gets their act together then maybe they have a shot of doing something good with their music.
