Ah, New York. I've never been but it seems like most music that comes from there has some form of anger in it. Too many people in a small space? I don't know but Endicott is the latest band from NY and while not quite as angry as some other hardcore bands, they do have an aggression that could only be called "angry". The Words In Ink Don't Lie is Endicott's debut full-length. They have released a couple of EPs independently but somehow along the way Equal Vision has picked them up. They seem to be a good fit, if their debut is any sign. The Words starts out strong right out of the gate with "Ransom Note", a fairly aggressive track. It seems to go a little south from there though. "Sundowner" has nothing going for it. It's a bit of a let-downer. "Chain Letter", on the other hand, is probably the albums highlight. Unfortunately there aren't enough of these to make this a necessary album.
I know that Endicott is just a new band, relatively, and that once experience rears its head we might see some improvement and a little more diversity in their songs. If you are a hardcore fan that really digs the likes of Thrice, then you might really get into Endicott, otherwise steer clear.
