On their fourth release Colombian rock band Aterciopelados have put out another incredible album something that seems hard to do in the world of Latin rock. They do so this time with an eclectic mix of songs a departure from the punk influenced material from their earlier works. The songs take full advantage of Andrea Echeverri's sultry and powerful voice, I dont think that she has ever sounded better. The album is a mix of styles that just flow into the songs effortlessly as if they had always belonged together. On songs like "rompecabezas" you can see what the band really shines at taking traditional latin music and latin pop and putting it into an eclectic twist to them then they seal the deal with incredible lyrics and all of the emotion that only Andrea can channel through her voice. In "El Album" the bands prove that they can still write a megahit with an incredibly catchy song with some of the best songwriting ive heard in recent years. Gozo Poderoso is a trip through latin pop that makes me smile everytime the listen to it. If you are willing to take a chance on this album go pick it up and make you sure you have nothing else on your slate because you will probably listen to a few times.
