As the bottle of Jack Daniels on the album's cover suggests, "Mohawks and Whiskey Shots" is definitely an album intended to party to. Fun, diverse, and energizing, Hussiskunk Radio, releases this album with the intention of spreading superior independent Punk Rock and their radio station that plays it.
The opening track, "Life Revolution" by the band Lame Ducks, a Norwegian Ska/Punk band, pumps you up for the next 26 tracks ahead. All of which pulled from extremely different ends of the Punk Rock spectrum.
Bands such as Hellogoodbye, standing on, well, the pretty think line between punk and pop, even have a spot on this assemblage. While Jenoa, recently signed to Drive-Through Records, leaning towards the "Emo" genre, also maintain a comfortable niche. In comparison, Dogshit Sandwich, a band whose members have undoubtedly created calluses inside of their throats due to their merciless screaming, also are also included on this album. The diversity is almost humorous, with bands like Brodii Split who sing lyrics like, "I don't want to grow up, I don't want to be left behind," (Kimapearl)
To a song that wails "Skinheads In My Yard, Oy Vey" under heavy distortion and a muffled recording. ("Skinheads In My Yard, Oy Vey," Steve Liberman)
The album's mix shifts from genre to genre relentlessly. Even a Rap/Punk combination by the band Sweet Pickle is mixed into this album. The freedom on the album is great, truly uniting the different categorizations of "Punk Rock." That these bands can be mixed onto one album harmoniously is a feat within itself.
