"I'm sick of American rock music being fucking Ben Folds Five," commented Jonathan Davies, member of the band Korn. The title track "Rocking the Suburbs," explained by Ben Folds himself at Los Angeles's El Ray Theater, is Ben's direct fuck you comeback. Listen to the song yet again; does the sound seem vaguely familiar?

If Ben Folds first solo album is the definition of "American Rock," I'm proud to be an American. According to the charts it isn't, but thanks Jonathan, the overestimation of the American population is flattering.

Rocking the Suburbs is Ben Folds at his best, and with everything done his way, there is no reason that it wouldn't be. This album is an articulate compilation of detached observations.

"Life barrels on like a runaway train, where the passengers change, they don't change anything, you get off, someone else can get on." (Fred Jones, part 2)

Rocking the Suburbs is full of maturity and conclusiveness. Ben is an adult now, but that doesn't mean that he's lost the humor in his songs. No one should deny themselves a night with comfortable headphones and this album set on repeat.

I am a sucker for piano rock. Despite my boyfriend's protests, I can listen to Billy Joel for hours. So naturally, I am a bit gaga for Ben Folds -- he's like Billy Joel for the slightly younger, slightly more musically-inclined set.

To echo Estee, this is Folds at his best. The Luckiest is destined to become a wedding first dance staple, with it's ability to stir just about anyone up a little bit inside. Somehow even the young Folds can accurately express the pains of passing through the stages of life, with Still Fighting It and Fred Jones, part 2.

I hope this becomes even more of a classic than We Didn't Start The Fire. The Wisconsin suburbs have been rocked.
