While last year's YosepH released under Luke Vibert's own name, was the first of anything other than a Wagon Christ release in quite some time, then seeming like Wagon Christ is Vibert's main focus. Nothing has been done with the Plug monicker for eons. The latest Wagon Christ, Sorry I Make You Lush is a fun album that makes us realize this is a man that still hasn't run out of electronica ideas. The album starts out with "Saddic Gladdic", a track that has a soulful beat happening with a retro synth driving the melody. Then we get to hear what could be the first time Vibert has ever laid his own vocals into a track. This song is called, ironically enough, "I'm Singing". We get back into the heavy beats on "The Funnies" and really don't slow down for the rest of the release. "Shadows" features a female vocal saying just that. Wagon Christ's cohesiveness is really amazing even though the majority of the beats and sounds are non-organic. The main thing you can learn from Wagon Christ is that electronica is still a genre that is not completely stale. Sorry I Make You Lush is a fun album and, while not completely unique, it does provide us with some great beats to groove to. For those multimedia fans, there is a really cool animation video for a track called "Receiver".
