What is it about old-school punk? It really never dies. There are bands like The Briefs popping up all over the damn place and no sign of it slowing down. I though punk was supposed to be dead at some point in the mid-80s. Anyway, The Briefs is yet another old-school punk band that harkens back to the days of The Vibrators and The Undertones. The are from Seattle and have all the attitude that all the old UK-based punk bands used to have. Listen to "Destroy The USA" for a fine example. Songs like the not so speedy "Antisocial" tend to hit on the anarchist point of view. The band does have a bit of similarity with the Libertines, although not enough to really raise concern. I would argue that this style of Punk is so much fun to play and to witness live that we will probably never see it die. The Briefs don't really bring anything new to the table. Instead they wrap their arms around the punk ethos and just have fun with it.
