The next band to get Fat Wreck Chords Live In A Dive treatment is California's Swingin' Utters. As I have found with the series, we are treated to a very high quality live recording. This band is one of punk's most consistent bands. They have a handful of albums to draw material from for this live album. And in all honesty, I don't think that we have seen the finest moment from this band yet. 2003's Dead Flowers was a great album but I have a feeling that they have something even better up their sleeves. They even haul out the acoustic guitars for a couple of tracks and do a bang-up job on "Fruitless Fortunes" and "All That I Can Give". I think I actually heard an accordion on "London Drunk". Crazy! The audience is totally into the music and the Swingin' Utters are in peak form. There is even a quicktime video on this one for one of the songs, showing what a rambunctious show these guys put on. This album is highly recommended for punk purists. Their mix of classic punk and new school Cali punk is not to be missed.
