These Seattle-ites are back for yet another round. Chris Bellew, Dave Dederer, and Jason Finn now have their own independent label in order to get their Presidents of the United States of America music out to their fans. I indeed fell in love with PUSA with their debut album, as many people did. And while other fans fell by the wayside some of us plugged on and were curious about all their releases. A bit of disappointment ensued but when I heard that the boys were doing things their own way, grassroots style, I took the bait. On Love Everybody we don't get songs quite as cute and instantly like-able as we did on their debut. Instead, there is a little more growing time that needs to occur. Upon first listen I was thoroughly disappointed but after the third listen Presidents of the USA's charm started to catch me. They are a pop band and that's what they do best. They seem to have gone away from singing about bugs and moved into more real-life situations like "Poke and Destroy". "Clean Machine" is a fast and furious pop song in their classic style. Chris' warped and immature sense of humor is something that not everyone can get into but if you do, you will be treated to fun songs like "Drool At You" and the fun album closer "Jennifer's Jacket". There are a couple tracks that don't seem to be fully thought out like "Munky River" (way too repetitive). But in all honesty, Love Everybody is a good album, not a classic but good.
