I swear that Fear Before The March Of Flames is one of the heaviest bands going right now. Their sonic assault is deafening at the best of times. Their story is one of success as well. Seeing that the band has really only been together for 2 years, this Colorado based band's sophomore album is every bit as crushing as their debut. Their first album, Odd How People Shake, was initially released on Rise Records and later re-released on the coveted Equal Vision label. Now, their first album actually recorded on Equal Vision dollars is about to be unleashed. Art Damage is going to throw the hardcore world flat on its ass. Their relentless touring with bands like Blood Brothers, Anatomy of a Ghost, Bear vs Shark and others has got the band tightened up. I found my ears begging for mercy as the guys wail through 11 songs in under 30 minutes. Guitar riffs resemble chainsaws rather than instruments. I stand back in amazement at the shredding vocals. But they get you to let down your guard on tracks like "Consequences David You'll Meet Your Fate In The Styx" by actually singing a few lines, only to turn around and hit you over the head with a fucking sledgehammer. Have I scared you? If you are still game, approach Art Damage ever so carefully. If you are indeed scared, walk away and find something that has a little more accessibility.

Great album. I had it given to me (twice), first when it was originally released and it's always been an album I go back to when I'm feeling particularly on edge. FBTMOF`s music is good for that, full speed metalcore that revels in it's peaks and valleys, creating snappy builds and giant, smooth-flowing crescendos. I have to give props to Brian and to the band and Greg over at Equal Vision for getting me an autographed copy of this disc. It's one of the coolest things in my collection, that's for sure.

This is one interesting band to listen to. They give me the feel of Sounds of Animals Fighting, but without the actual sounds of animals fighting. Their music is random and out there, but the lyrics go well with it. I'm giving them an 8 for this review because this album is an all around great album, and it refuses to disappoint anyone who listens to it. I dont believe there is one song i have listened to that i did not like. "Should Have Stayed in The Shallows" is a perfect example of a great song by Fear Before. It was a hit single, and has some funny lyrics to it, random and out there, but funny lyrics. Pick up this CD, i dont care what type of music you're into, pick up this Cd and give it a few listens then form your own opinion on this amazing band.
