Now this hasn't been done before, Thomas & Sampson relies heavily on a Modest Mouse influence without actually ripping them off. Just listen to one track like "Demon Blues" and you can't help but see the similarity. One thing that Thomas & Sampson do have that MM doesn't is layered vocals. The vocals are in a falsetto for the most part but I have heard rumours that one of the two is a women (bio pretty weak). The album starts out with one of the more louder songs on the set. "Our Little" has a pretty cool beat with a brush drum sound keeping the beat going. The songs themselves are very gentle and the lyrics have a bit of romance in them. The way the vocals are presented, you end up hypnotized. The instrumentation is quiet but not lo-fi. The sound is fairly consistent throughout. When the Lower Resembles the Higher is a good album, although, I don't think I could handle many repeated listens. The vocals are charming but I think they could get annoying if they were listened to over and over.
