After only three albums, Tiger Army does indeed have an army of fans. They have been plugging away, overcoming adversary (more on that in a minute), making some of the best rockabilly music to be heard. And I don't mean it as an insult but Tiger Army has to be one of the most accessible bands on Hellcat. Their music is not grating and is easy to listen to. When listening to Ghost Tigers Rise I quite often hear the skate punk style of Agent Orange in their sound. The music is energetic but really accessible. Some of the music has a dark overtone to it but a lot of Tiger Army's music sounds hopeful like "Calling". It's funny because they set off the album with this moody introduction that kind of sets a dark haze feeling for the album. Some of the songs fit into that mood but a lot of them are a little more sunny. It even starts as early as "Wander Alone", one of the most fun tracks on Ghost Tigers Rise. And all this with the absence of drummer Fred Hell. See, Fred was shot four times in a brutal home invasion robbery. The band thought he would be in shape to play on this album but it didn't happen. That's where Mike Fasano, drum tech, filled in and has done an amazing job. This is a band that really deserves your ear. Check it out next time you go into your indie music store.
