I think I get it. I'm not quite sure though. This art-rock group from Brooklyn gets all jungle on us with Creature Comforts. Listen no further than "Creature" for proof of what can be done with samplers and their wacky electronics. It does indeed sound like a manufactured jungle that has no tribal beats. No, if it's beats you are looking for then you should probably look to the new Rza because this album is about noises. It is probably good that Black Dice pick a theme for an album, otherwise you might end up completely lost. I do have to admit that this music isn't my thing but after a few listens I caught quite a few moments that I was enjoying. It's not an album that you listen to while working. Creature Comforts is something you put on and pretty much have to pay full attention to during its entire span. The 15+ minute "Skeleton" takes up a majority of your time. Although I found the brief "Cloud Pleaser" to be my favorite. It is fairly gentle with a thundering pulse driving us slowly insane. "Night Flight" really would drive me insane if listened to very often. While I honestly respect what these so-called musicians are capable, there is a time and place. Noise-rock fans need apply.
