Uberzone - The Digital Mix
While many people my shy away from the whole digital realm of music making, there is something to be said for someone who can create interesting music out of digital machines. Uberzone (Timothy Wiles) has been doing that live for quite some time. He released Faith In The Future on Astralwerks last year and now he has gone even further with his new mix CD from Moonshine. On The Digital Mix, Uberzone moves away from having any vocal tracks at all. On Faith In The Future he used Beenie Man and Lida Husik as well as Helmet’s Page Hamilton on guitar. This new album is pretty much all digital music with the odd sample thrown for a bit of organics. I would imagine this is the way that music is going to head at some point but right now people are still interested in having somewhat real instruments being used. There are some pretty fine beats on The Digital Mix and I caught myself bopping away to a lot of the tracks. No turntables were used in the making of this album.
