The Fever - Red Bedroom
We were treated to an EP late last year from The Fever, promising us some good things and they have in turn, delivered on those promises. Red Bedroom is The Fever's debut album and it shows some promise for this New York based 5-piece. While their sound hasn't quite been perfected it does have qualities about it. They almost sound like an American version of Tangiers. Think of the garage-rock revival we have seen but throw in a little more Teenage Head or 80s music in for good measure. They aren't soft, that's for sure. Tracks like the rambunctious "Ladyfingers" kicks ass. I get a bit of an old-school punk flavor from the album too. The closer "Diamond Days" is a perfect ending sounding like it could have been a David Bowie track in his Ziggy Stardust era. The keyboards are a prominent instrument making the Fever stand out from other bands in the New York area. Another cool track is the robot-like "Scorpio". It's spooky and futuristic at the same time. You could do much worse than Red Bedroom. This is a very solid debut album that should gain them some fans and get them some good gigs for the next year.
