Girl Noboby is the voice of Marta Jaciubek and are based in Vancouver BC. They are a band without a label but that hasn't stopped them making one of the most interesting pop albums of the year. There are five members to the band but the thing that really stands out in the mix is Marta's Bjork-like vocals. The group released a self-titled EP back in 2001 that they sold off of their stage. It was received warmly so those people who bought the EP have been begging for more. The Future Isn't What It Used To Be will surely please all of those fans as well as other pop fans who haven't been exposed to Girl Nobody. The band's sound is very original and seems like they are on to something. While Jaciubek's vocals are similar to Bjork's, the music isn't as far out as Bjork. Think more of Lamb but even more organic. The band is capable of fairly aggressive songs but can easily change up the pace and do a sweet ballad like "Yellow Morning". Marta's voice is very dynamic and strong at and volume. Almost ever song is catchy and memorable, something that doesn't happen much these days. Even though you probably haven't heard of them yet, you will. Girl Nobody has created an amazing debut that needs to be heard. Labels will indeed be knocking. There is a great remix at the end of the album of "Why Am I Alone", promising to be a great radio hit.
