Ah, wouldn't Ben Folds be proud. Look at what he's started. Now it's cool to have a piano in a rock band again. Clair de Lune is a band named after a Debussy piece and rocks harder than that classical composer ever could. Marionettes is the 5-pieces debut album. The album starts off strong with "Sailor Beware" but doesn't really hold up that strong. "Ghosts Of The Hill" is OK but really not up to par. With "Life On Remote" they get onto something except they drag out the song about 1.5 minutes longer than it needed to be. That seems to be a common occurrence on Marionettes, they drag songs out a little too long. If they just got down to business we would all be a lot happier. Clair De Lune is a band with potential and I wouldn't write them off. While they do indeed rock, there is nothing on Marionettes that makes me want to shout out their name. There are some hooks in some of the songs that make you take a second look but as a package it really isn't memorable.
