If there is going to be any band that is going to be the poster boy for screamo/emo then it will indeed be Ontario's Alexisonfire. These guys let it rip while still keeping their music somewhat accessible. The album kicks off with what could easily be a football chant, "Accidents" has a good refrain of "Woah woah waaaoooh" that starts things off with a bang. It has vocals fading in and out of each speaker around the midway point showing some clever, albeit, over-production. I think one of Alexisonfire's hot spots is the adaptability of George Pettit's vocals. He could sing for Nsync or Cathedral. That is a broad range to be sure. After one more song, the band slows it down a little with "It Was Fear", a song that you can feel bubbling up all the way to the midpoint. It is never quite as aggressive as some of the other songs and the guitar is the focal point here. "Side Walk When She Walks" is a dead ringer for a successful single off of Watch Out. Out of all the songs here, this one has it all. These guys are totally capable of writing diverse music that would appeal to such a wide audience that I really can't imagine why Watch Out wouldn't be successful. If I had to pull a favorite song on Watch Out it would be either the thrashfest of "That Girl Possessed" or the melodic album closer "Happiness By The Kilowatt". I totally enjoyed this album.
