Killswitch Engage have proven themselves a force to be reckoned with in i brief 3 albums. The End Of Heartache is the groups 3 album and holy shit does it kick ass! The way these guys have solidified their sound and fanbase is by melding everything that is good in metal into one pot and delivering the result in nicely produced package. There are many elements of hardcore as well as European death metal. You might even hear segments of 90s mainstream metal in hear when new vocalist Howard Jones uses his highly diverse singing voice. But that's not all that this Jones is capable of. He can growl along with the best of them. As he twists it up in the middle of a song, Joel Stroetzel's provides the substance in order to make Killswitch Engage one of the best metal bands in America. I love when Stroetzel uses the Zack Wilde signature guitar vibrato. While The End Of Heartache sounds very similar to that of their last album, Alive or Just Breathing, it is quite a feat considering a new vocalist as well as drummer. Obviously they didn't want to change up too much with the new line-up. I'm thinking that they will wait until the next album to do much sound changes. I am thankful that the addition of Jones into the mix that much hasn't really changed. Killswitch Engage is a super tight metal band with elements of old and new, hard and soft that should make a good impression on pretty much any metal fan. How many hardcore bands would try and pull of a guitar ballad like "Inhale"? Not too many. This album is not about that though. It's about tracks like "Breath Life" and "World Ablaze". God I love good metal.
