Macha - Forget Tomorrow
It has been quite some time since we have heard from the brother-led Macha. About four years in fact. The McKay brothers are back with Forget Tomorrow, released again on Jetset records and this time around they have more or less dropped a lot of the world-beat sounds from their last album. They instead look to a bit of a electro sound on songs like the brilliant "Calming Passengers". The title track is almost a flashback to the 80s with its synth sounds. It's probably the catchiest track on the album. "D-D-D" is a primarily instrumental track that almost sounds as if there are steel drums being played on it. Then there is hardly any content to "While the People Sleep". It's a track that really could lull you into sleep. Things pick up again with the danceable "Smash & Grab". It's kind of like that through the rest of the album as well. "Paper Tiger" is my favorite track though. It sounds like it has world flavor and yet it seems very western in its delivery. Even though I listened to Forget Tomorrow five or six times, I didn't find it a memorable listen. It seems like a strong album with many different highlights but in the end I will probably forget this album tomorrow. I'm sure it will still be a success with the college crowd though.
