I think the downtempo act Zero 7 has tried to outrun it's sophomore album by releasing some in between EPs and remix albums but I don't think that it's going to help them. When It Falls is the groups proper follow-up to their Simple Things album and it just doesn't live up to the expectations. Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker seem to choose for an even more organic sound, opting for more live instrumentation and less computers. The group starts out with the fairly impressive "Warm Sound" but starts to fade out with the second track, "Home" and kind of goes downhill from there. Like, what is "Passing By"? It should have been called "Passing Over". The best thing about the album is probably the vocalists. The arrangements just need a little more inspiration. There are the odd find within the album but overall, if you own Simple Things, you don't need When It Falls. It's not a bad album but I found it to be a little bland. It would be good for background music or something to listen to while winding down but that's about it. This is probably the time where a record label would consider doing a remix project. The songs are fairly solid but need a little extra oomph to get the listener into them. They are shooting to be Air but they fell way short.
