Get ready for one of the most fucked up albums you will ever hear. But to expect anything less than that wouldn’t befit the king of fucked up IDM (intelligent dance music). Unless it was remixed, I would venture to guess that not one club DJ has played an Aphex Twin track to an unsuspecting audience. If you are familiar with the artist you will know why, if you not then let me explain. Richard D. James (better known to most as Aphex Twin) has been putting out mind-altering music (now called Drukqs) since the early 90’s and is continuing to define the IDM genre well into the new Millennium. On his double album opus, Druqks, Richard cuts and pastes his styles even more than he has done in the past. Some of the tracks sounds like they would fit on a classical album and others sound like they would fit on an alien recording. With his spastic style, some listeners may get turned off, while others may be even more intrigued with his drum n bass, or drill and bass, as I have heard it called. There is no denying that Drukqs is an ambitious effort that should put Aphex Twin in the books for good.
